Everything you need for your new addition!
Vaccinating your kitten is vital to protect against a number of life-threatening diseases. The primary vaccination course involves 2 vaccinations that are given 3-4 weeks apart. This course covers your kitten against feline enteritis, flu and leukemia.
Booster vaccinations are required annually after the initial course.
Fleas are a very common parasite and can be present all year round. These can cause skin problems and can also transmit tapeworms to your pet. 95% of fleas are present in your environment (bedding, carpets, furnishings etc) while only 5% will be on your cat at any one time.
The products we provide for your pets also help reduce fleas in the environment by interfering with their lifecycle. If you have fleas in the house, there are environmental sprays that can be used. If you are concerned please ask a member of staff.
Worming is very important in puppies and some worms can already be present in a kittens intestines. Roundworms can pass from mother to kitten during pregnancy and through milk, they can also be picked up in the environment. Tapeworms are transmitted via fleas and through scavenging wildlife. If your kitten has fleas they will almost certainly have worms, which is why it is important to keep up with your kitten’s flea and worming treatments.
We advise worming every month until 6 months of age, at which point worming is usually done every 3 months. It is important to have an accurate weight for your kitten's worming treatment to make sure they get an accurate dose. We would recommend bringing your kitten in regularly for weighing, you can pop in and do this at any time or make a free appointment with one of our nurses where they can administer the treatment for you at the same time.
We provide 5 weeks free insurance which will be activated at your first appointment. On average one in three pets require unexpected veterinary treatment each year, so it’s important to make sure you have adequate and appropriate cover in place. Please speak to reception if you have any questions regarding your free insurance.
